 'Play to live, live to play'
Die Initiative 'Fußball gegen Aids' ist eine Idee von George Mbwando, der zum Ende seiner Profilaufbahn in Ingolstadt tätig war. Für die Nationalmannschaft Zimbabwe Warriors spielte er 22 mal. Nun möchte sich George für die Unterstützung während seiner Profikarriere bedanken und seinem Heimatland im Kampf gegen Aids helfen. Er sieht die Imunschwäche-Krankheit Aids als eines der größten Probleme Zimbabwes und des südlichen Afrikas, denn bereits jeder 4. ist vom HIV - Virus infiziert, wodurch viele Familien und Kinderträume zerstört werden. Durch seine Initiative 'Fussball gegen Aids' (FGA) möchte er vielen Aidswaisen helfen und ihnen die Möglichkeit geben, normal aufzuwachsen und ein geregeltes Leben zu führen. George Mbwando stellte nun in Deutschland ein Team auf die Beine, welches die Aufgaben anpackt und umsetzt.
The association “Football against Aids” was founded by George Mbwando, a former football player who was born in Zimbabwe and has finished his professional career in Ingolstadt, Germany. George himself was part of the “Zambabwe Warriors”, the country’s national football team, and has played in a total of 22 games. Today, George is very grateful for his own fate and would like to give something back to his people. Considering aids as one of the biggest obstacles in Zimbabwe and the entire Southern Africa, with today one out of four people in Zimbabwe infected with the HIV virus, George particularly focuses on orphans, who lost their parents because of aids. He pursues to give them the chance of a dignified childhood with prospects of a better future. Therefore, George in Germany has formed a dynamic team of enthusiastic people, who aim to make a difference through the initiative “Football against Aids”.

Durch den Bau eines Kinderheimes soll den Kindern, die ihre Eltern durch Aids verloren haben, eine schulische Bildung und ein geregeltes Umfeld ermöglicht werden. Bis jetzt hat der Verein bereits von sehr vielen Menschen und Firmen Unterstützung erhalten, darunter auch prominente Persönlichkeiten, wie z.B Ministerpräsident Horst Seehofer, Fußballprofi Andreas 'Zecke' Neuendorf, Peter Jackwerth vom FC Ingolstadt 04, Thorsten Fink (Trainer vom HSV), Sport-Journalist Jörg Dahlmann, Deutsche Vermögensberatung AG und vielen weiteren. Einen besonderen Dank möchten wir an Andreas 'Zecke' Neuendorf richten, der für unseren Verein 15.000 € spendete.
Weitere Prominente und einflussreiche Persönlichkeiten sollen für das Projekt gewonnen werden. Der Verein 'Fussball gegen Aids' befindet sich auch in Südafrika und Zimbabwe im Aufbau. Als Projektleiter Südafrikas, konnte George seinen langjährigen und besten Freund Edzai Kasinauyo, der 20-mal für Zimbabwe spielte und nun in Südafrika lebt, gewinnen.
By establishing an orphanage for children who lost their parents suffering from aids, these children can enjoy education and grow up in a well-regulated environment. By now, the association has experienced great support by many companies, individuals, and also celebrities, like for example premier Horst Seehofer, and the football players Andreas (Zecke) Neuendorf and Peter Jackwerth (both from FC Ingolstadt 04), Thorsten Fink (coach from HSV), the sports journalist Jörg Dahlmann, Deutsche Vermögensberatung AG and many more. Particularly, the association would like to thank Andreas ‘Zecke’ Neuendorf, who donated 15.000 € for “Football against Aids”.
In the future, we aim to cooperate with even more celebrities, who could help us to make our projects more apparant and public. Furthermore, the association “Football against Aids” is also going to establish local centres in South Africa and Zimbabwe. The leadership of the project in South Africa is held by George’s best friend, Edzai Kasinauyo, who himself has been a professional playing for Zimbabwe’s national team in the past. Today, Edzai lives in South Africa contributing his high profile to combating aids with football.
